Using discount codes for calendar events


Do you ever offer discount promotional codes for your events? Maybe guests can enter a special code to have their event price discounted by $10.00. Or you send a mailing out to a portion of your marketing list that includes an offer of "Save $5 by entering the call letters for this radio station when registering!"

Tendenci can handle these Discount Codes easily within the standard event registration system.

To use Discount Codes, you will first need to edit an existing Event Type (or add a new one) that will allow registrants to enter a code.

  1. From the Tendenci console, scroll down to the Admin Only Block and choose Calendar Event Types.
  2. Search for the Event Type you want to change and click the Edit (pencil) icon.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and check Discount: Allow Discount Code.
  4. Click Edit Calendar Event Type to save your changes.
Once you've set up the Calendar Event Type, you'll need to specify the Discount Code and Amount for the event. Navigate to the event and click on More Options and choose Pricing.
  1. Enter a Discount Code. (ex. HOU63 or GUEST)
  2. Enter a Discount Amount. (ex. 5 for a $5.00 discount)

When someone views the Event, they will see the words "Discount Code may be used for a discount of $5.00." in the Pricing section.

When they register, they will have the opportunity to enter the Discount Code at which point the discount will be applied to their invoice.
