International Association of Business Communicators Selects Tendenci® Powered Website as the International Website of the Year
IABC Houston website chosen from over 100 IABC chapters in 80 countries around the world
HOUSTON, March 4, 2013 – A website powered by Tendenci (www.tendenci.com), the open source content management system (CMS) for associations and nonprofit organizations (NPOs), has earned top honors from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). IABC Houston’s website, https://iabchouston.com, was presented with a 2013 Award of Excellence as the International Website of the Year at IABC’s annual Leadership Institute in Scottsdale, AZ.
IABC Houston is the fourth largest IABC chapter in the U.S. and eighth largest in the world, with membership of over 300 professional communicators. IABC Houston’s website was selected by the International committee from more than 100 IABC chapters in 80 countries around the world.
Tendenci makes it easy for IABC Houston to maintain its local flavor through the IABC Houston calendar view, powered by Tendenci’s calendar event management package. It makes it possible for IABC Houston to quickly and easily add events, set pricing, allow registration and take payment. Tendenci’s digital media management package helps IABC organize, collect and share videos, while the chapter uses Tendenci’s online job board tools and business directories to attract new members and generate revenue.
Originally developed by Schipul – The Web Marketing Company, Tendenci was released as an open source CMS to give NPOs greater freedom and control over their online presence.
“Developing this website in partnership with Schipul – The Web Marketing Company has been a team effort and we credit those past and present board members who worked so hard to make the website what it is today,” said IABC Houston President, Mary Hardin-Francis. “The IABC Houston Board of Directors is thrilled to have received this award.”
In addition to its association management capabilities, Tendenci helps IABC Houston and other NPOs accommodate mobile users, with the ability to automatically recognize mobile and tablet users by auto-resizing and formatting to the width and height of any device. It also features out-of-the-box search engine optimization and Web analytics integration to help maximize and track online visibility.
Tendenci CMS has over 1 million users and currently powers hundreds of websites for associations and nonprofit organizations around the world, including Metropolitan New York Library Council (www.metro.org), Houston Technology Center (www.houstontech.org) and The Houston Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® (www.komen-houston.org).
