Hi there!
Is it common to end up with duplicate users?
It's not unusual, but it does take a human to fix it.
Why?
People change jobs or contact info very frequently. It's just life. A common problem for having duplicate users, is people signing up on a site multiple times, which brings up the problem "I'm not receiving any emails" because most likely, it's going to the old email.
How do I merge duplicate users?
The process is pretty simple, and it's one that Tendenci team encourages your team to add to your Tendenci site maintenance to-do list, at least monthly or users will complain they "can't log in" and stuff. Please understand It's not you, it's not the software, it's the fact that people move around a lot.
So this is the easy way to fix it!
Easy 3 step guide to learn how to merge similar users:
Step 1
In your admin navigation menu, click over <Reports>Manage Users>Similar Users List>
Step 2
Once you are on the Similar Users List page, you will notice (if applicable) a list of all similar users. You have the option to search for the silimar users you would like to merge.
Note: Before continuing to the next step, for security reasons, the system will ask you to enter your password.
Step 3
Identify the Master account or Primary Record and then click "Merge".
Step 4 - Confirmation
You will see a message that says "Successfully merge users..."
Now you can rest assured that invoices, articles, events, etc., are now associated and recorded with the master user record.
Note:
