After adding your Stripe account to your site, you may wonder if there is a way to test or simulate the payments besides using your Credit Card. Luckily Stripe provides cards that are called "Test Cards" and today you will know how to use them in your Tendenci site! 

There are quite a few steps that need to be made before using the Test Card.

Step 1: Set you Stripe Account to Test Mode

You don't want actual payments to go through whie testing Stripe, especilly when you are using your own credit card. So Stripe provides a feature called Test mode where you can run simulations of an online payment. When you create an account, Test mode is automatically enabled until you activate your account. If you account is already activated you will need to: 

1. Click on the toggle button next to Test Mode in the upper right corner of your Stripe Account 
    

Step 2: Look for a Credit Card 

Test Payments must be done usng Credit Card numbers provided by Stripe.

When testing interactively, use a card number, such as 4242 4242 4242 4242. Enter the card number in the Dashboard or in any payment form.

• Use a valid future date, such as 12/34.
• Use any three-digit CVC (four digits for American Express cards).
• Use any value you like for other form fields.

In case you'd like to test payments per country or  logo (Visa, Mastercard, AMEX...), you can visit Stripe Credit Card Test and look for the Credit Card number that best suits your company.  

Step 3: Make the Test Payment 

Once you find the correct Credit Card: 

1. Go to this page to make a payment https://www.YOUR_SITE_NAME.com/py/
2. Once there, fill out the information request by the page and then click on  at the bottom.
   
   
3. We proceed to fill out the payment information with the card numbers that was provided to us by Stripe. For this case let's the Visa number 4242 4242 4242 4242. 
   
   The name and CVC can be random, but the date has to be set in the future to make sure it works properly.
   
   
4. Then the Billing Information can be random as well. Just to make sure, use the same name used on the Name on Card. 

After submitting the payment, you will recieve a payemnt successfull message and will recieve an email notification with the invoice link. 

 In summary To test Stripe payments, you can do two things:

1. Set your Stripe account to dev mode/test mode by putting the account in developer mode first, then using stripe test credit card data Stripe Card Testing and making a payment on this page https://www.YOUR_SITE_NAME.com/py/
   
   
2. Skip Step 1 and Step 2 and then run an actual payment through https://www.YOUR_SITE_NAME.com/py/. Remember, if you set the Stripe account to Test Mode, change it back to Active Mode before running a live payment.
