Error Tracking - Tendenci Should Never Throw a Visible Error
Error tracking is an art as much as it is a science. It's hard, but we have great people. Ideally, Tendenci should never throw an error that the client sees unless a site is in active development. But those 502 errors? Nope, they shouldn't happen because it means we goofed on server configuration or I suppose it is possible they are under an extremely heavy load. So maybe not never, but rarely (like once a month max.) But we need the data. Thus we need your help.
What to do if you see an error?
If the world is blowing up? Run down the hall screaming but be sure to bring a link with details.
What to do if you see an error but it isn't the Independence Day type of error with aliens and stuff?
For those errors, hopefully, the vast majority of a small group to begin with, we need the data.
It takes a team to make a solid product and some time, so we really appreciate the detail. Especially links, the time, and any helpful notes about what you were doing. If you want to be awesome and you can recreate the error you can record a screencast and attach that too!
Thank you.
