SSL-certification is baseline for protecting your site. Not to mention ranking higher in the search engines.
If you have SSL applied to your site, you should see, depending on the browser, a padlock indicating the SSL is in place and working.
If you see an error icon after SSL has been applied, this indicates that some of the content on your page is referencing a link that is not SSL-secured.
The easiest way to fix this is to go into the Source Code (click the <> icon on your toolbar) and look for any references with the http: instead of https:
