Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance Greater Houston Revamps Website for Better Accessibility

Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance Greater HoustonHOUSTON, February 12, 2016
–Tendenci -The Open Source AMS (www.tendenci.com), the software development company spearheading the Tendenci Open Source platform for associations and other nonprofits (NPOs), is proud to release a dynamic new website for the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance Greater Houston. The website, https://www.remindsupport.org, sponsors free and confidential support groups in the Greater Houston area for individuals suffering from depression and bipolar disorder and the family and friends that support them.

Tendenci Open Source was released as an open source solution for associations and non-profits to give nonprofits and cause-related organizations greater freedom and control over their online presence.

From the DBSA Houston website:

Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance Greater Houston provides free and confidential support groups for individuals living with, or family and friends affected by, depression and bipolar disorders. Our support groups are also offered to family members, caregivers and friends who are trying to understand these two difficult mental disorders as they try to assist loved ones.

One of the main areas of focus for DBSA Houston is to remove the stigma associated with depression and bipolar disorder and encourage those who are suffering to come forward, without embarrassment or shame, and find the support they need to live a fulfilling life.

DBSA Houston started offering support to individuals in 1979, a grassroots effort by their founder Gary L. Levering who recognized a need to offer help to those suffering from "mood disorders". The Houston group officially joined the national DBSA organization in 1989.

The flexible Content Management System included with the Tendenci platform allows DBSA Houston to easily add new support groups as they evolve and provide up-to-the-minute notification of group changes for their participants. With quick and easy inhouse management of site content, DBSA Houston is able to promote upcoming events, highlight recent news, revise page content and post announcements using a simple, non-technical inteface.

We are proud to work with an organization that is dedicated to improving the lives of many Houstonians and their families and friends.

Tendenci has more than 1 million users and currently powers hundreds of websites for non-profit organizations around the world, including the Spaulding for Children adoption agency (www.spauldingforchildren.org), the Children's Assessment Center of Houston (www.cachouston.org) and the Houston Technology Center (www.houstontech.org).
