Discussion will examine how the mobile Web is changing communication

Ed Schipul, President and CEO of TendenciHOUSTON, June 5, 2012
– Schipul – The Web Marketing Company (www.schipul.com), a leading Web marketing and software development company, today announced that President and CEO Ed Schipul will present at the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) World Conference next month. His presentation, “How the mobile Web will change communication,” will explore the ways communicators can capitalize on evolving user behaviors to be more relevant and advance their marketing initiatives.

Microsoft Tag has predicted that by 2014, mobile Internet will overtake desktop Internet usage. According to mobiThinking.com, there are 5.9 billion mobile subscribers — 87 percent of the world population. Meanwhile, more than 300,000 apps have been developed in the past 3 years and downloaded more than 10.9 Billion times

“The use of smartphones and other mobile devices to connect via talk, text, social media apps, the Web, games and video is the most important trend communicators must understand and master,” said Schipul. “The current change in the communications landscape is just as significant as the rise of e-mail and the Web in the mid-1990s, and just like that seismic shift, the various demographic groups are displaying vastly different norms and behaviors, which makes the challenge that much more complex.”

In addition to Mr. Schipul’s presentation, the IABC World Conference will offer more than 70 professional development sessions that feature the latest developments and best practices in communication leadership, public relations, change management, employee communication, strategy and counsel, marketing/brand communication and skills development. Speakers include keynote addresses by noted environmental activist Robert F. Kennedy and best-selling author Kevin Carroll.

The event will take place at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers, 301 E. North Waters St., on June 24-27. Mr. Schipul’s presentation is scheduled for Tuesday, June 26th at 3:15 p.m. For details on conference sessions and to register online, visit https://www.iabc.com/.
