I'll Share Best Practices as Moderator of “Pimp My Nonprofit” Panel Discussion

HOUSTON, February 25. 2008 – How can a typical nonprofit organization spread its message without busting its budget? Ed Schipul, CEO of Schipul – The Web Marketing Company (www.schipul.com), believes the latest Social Media technologies can play an important role for organizations that understand how to safely and effectively harness their power. Schipul will moderate the panel, “Pimp My Non-Profit,” at the 2008 South by Southwest Interactive Festival (SXSW) next month in Austin.

Schipul will be joined by panelists to discuss the latest Web-based social media technologies that nonprofit organizations are utilizing for fundraising and promotion of social causes. The panel consists of innovative social change experts, including Erin Denny, Senior Product Manager, YouthNoise Initiatives, Michaela Hackner, Girls with Macs and World Learning, Beth Kanter, www.bethkanter.org, and Rachel Weidinger, Strategy for Social Entrepreneurs and NetSquared.

“Social media has enabled rapid response at a relatively low cost for nonprofits online,” said Schipul. “By ‘pimp your nonprofit,’ we mean leveraging new media tools to create best of class bottom line results. Most nonprofits have two bottom lines – one for the financials and one for the organization’s mission, both of which can benefit from strategic use of social media technologies and techniques.”

The panel discussion will offer a forum for evaluation of technological strategies, case study successes and failures and an opportunity to obtain feedback and ideas from the audience. It is scheduled Monday, March 10th at 1:30 p.m. at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, Texas.
SXSW Interactive attracts innovators and offers a venue for their projections on the newest trends in technology. Panels focus on how technology facilitates new ideas, communication and creativity in diverse digital and social applications.
